English Language Learners (ELL)
As part of our commitment to help all learners be successful, Gardenhill Elementary is dedicated to providing quality differentiated instruction for our English Language Learner population. English Learners are provided with thirty minutes of daily English Language Development (E.L.D) instruction, which focuses on oral and written language development. Using the newly adopted Systematic E.L.D. Framework, students learn conversational and academic English they will need to communicate in a variety of settings. In addition to ELD instruction, English Learners are provided with support in the classroom through G.L.A.D. strategies, vocabulary development, and through small group instruction. English Learners are formally assessed once a year through the CELDT test to track their progress, and to redesignate students that show an adequate level of English language proficiency. |
